Apple may have just unveiled a new set of emoji, but we are by no means satisfied. Not even Kim Kardashian’s Kimojis can fill our need for emoji that are the right balance of sophisticated, cheeky and attuned to pop culture. Enter Cantor Fine Art, who may have just done the trick with its set of emoji representing the world’s most famous artists and pieces of art.
The Los Angeles-based gallery launched these fine art emoji as a joke, which sadly means there is no downloadable extension, at least, not yet. But there is still a wealth of sheer delight to be found in their imaginative renderings. Poor little Vincent van Gogh has rarely looked so cute with a severed ear, while Warhol and Dalí are accompanied by their respective signatures: a soup can and melting clock.
Individual pieces are also represented, like Magritte’s “Son of Man” and its infamous apple as well as Michelangelo’s “Creation of Adam.”
